Submarine Museum, Vishakapatnam
I have always found them quite intriguing, mysterious and honestly very sexy.
Growing up, the image has correctly always been around them being used for hidden strategies at war... An impression strangely developed from all the Hollywood Movies watched.
When googling up Visakhapatnam, the submarine museum caught my fancy. I found out that they actually have a 1977 war submarine converted into a museum! For whatever reason.. I knew I wanted to do this for sure.
When I reached the site.. Wow happened. They actually had a bug submarine parked on the beach.. Easily accessible at a simple ticket fee.
I actually got to walk through this 177 meter long metal fish... Experiencing how the naval boys lived in there for weeks together. The missle shooting sockets (6 at the front end and another 4 in the back end), the powerful engine/motor, the naval boy's beds and dining area, the captain's cabin, etc..Pipes, wires, levers, narrow passages, ladders, doors on the top, some small round windows, etc. They had wax statues of sailors in each department doing their stuff.. And like a wide eyed little girl I imagined living the experience.
I'm glad I did this museum tour.
